The heart of what we do

Connection, carried by the water.

Kayak + Connect Tours combine a guided paddle on Tomales Bay with simple, meaningful practices that help groups slow down, notice more, and connect with the natural world — and one another.

The bay has a way of quieting the noise. Out on the water, distractions soften. The shoreline opens. The pace changes. People listen differently. They notice differently. They return to shore feeling more present, more connected, more themselves.

The Experience

What the experience looks like

We begin with a warm welcome, paddle orientation, safety review, and introduction to the day's route, conditions, and theme.

Depending on the group, the experience may include a short grounding practice, simple nature observation, partner or group reflection, gentle communication prompts, or quiet time to notice what is happening on the bay.

Once on the water, we paddle at a relaxed pace through protected areas of Tomales Bay. We pause often for wildlife, stillness, conversation, and moments of awareness.

The structure is always invitational. Guests are never pressured to share more than feels comfortable. The goal is not performance — it is presence.

We return to shore with time to land gently, gather belongings, and close with a brief reflection or shared moment of appreciation.

Who It's For

Who this is designed for

Kayak + Connect Tours are ideal for retreat groups, teams, schools, nonprofits, community groups, couples, families, and friends looking for a deeper experience on the water.

These experiences are especially well-suited for people who want more than a standard sightseeing paddle — people drawn to nature, reflection, meaningful conversation, team connection, emotional reset, or shared experience.

Children ages 7+ may participate in daytime family or youth-appropriate versions when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Some facilitated experiences are best suited for teens and adults.

What to Bring

What to bring

Comfortable layered clothing, a windbreaker or jacket, sun protection, water, snacks if needed, and shoes that can get wet.

Quick-dry clothing is best. We recommend bringing a towel and a change of clothes for afterward.

We provide kayaks, paddles, PFDs/life jackets, basic dry storage, guide support, and facilitation.

Safety & Stewardship

Safety & stewardship

Kayak + Connect Tours are led by trained guides and facilitators who prioritize safety, emotional care, guest comfort, and respect for the bay.

We keep the pace relaxed, adjust the route based on real-time conditions, and make decisions based on the group's needs, guide judgment, and actual conditions on the water.

Forecasts are advisory; actual conditions on the bay guide our decisions.

We paddle with care for wildlife, shoreline habitat, eelgrass, and the quiet of the bay. Your safety, the group's trust, and the bay's well-being come before everything else.

Conditions & safety

All experiences are weather-, tide-, permit-, and condition-dependent. Kayak + Connect may delay, modify, relocate, reschedule, or cancel an experience when conditions are not safe or appropriate. Forecasts are advisory; actual conditions at the launch site and on the water guide final decisions.

Age & participation

  • Daytime tours: generally ages 7 and older.
  • Night and bioluminescence tours: ages 13 and older due to reduced visibility, cooler conditions, and the need for attentive listening and safety awareness.
  • Guests ages 7-12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and may be assigned to a tandem kayak with an adult.
  • Final participation and boat assignments remain at the discretion of guides and management based on conditions, route, guest fit, and safety.
