Overview

A Moonlit Evening on the Bay

Under the full moon, Tomales Bay takes on a different kind of beauty. The water softens, the shoreline quiets, and moonlight turns the bay silver. These slow, peaceful paddles are designed for presence, connection, and wonder rather than distance.

No prior kayaking experience is required, but guests should feel comfortable on the water after dark. Bring warm layers, a windproof jacket, a warm hat, water-friendly shoes, water, and a towel or change of clothes.

Full-moon tours focus on moonlight, stillness, and nighttime atmosphere rather than peak bioluminescence.

What to Expect

What the evening looks like

We begin with gear fitting, a paddle orientation, a safety review, and night-paddling expectations.

Once on the water, the group moves at a relaxed pace through protected areas, with time to drift, listen, observe, and take in the moonlit landscape before returning together to shore.

Who It's For

Who this experience is for

Curious adults, couples, friends, visitors, locals, and private groups looking for a peaceful moonlit evening on the water.

No prior kayaking experience is required, though guests should feel comfortable being on the water after dark.

Guests must be ages 13+ for full moon tours.

Please let us know about any mobility considerations when booking. We are happy to talk through what is possible and help design the safest, most comfortable experience available.

What to Bring

What to bring

Warm layered clothing, a windproof or windbreaker jacket, a warm hat, closed-toe shoes or water-friendly shoes, water, and a towel or change of clothes for afterward.

We provide kayaks, paddles, PFDs/life jackets, basic dry storage, and guide support.

Safety & Stewardship

Safety & stewardship

Full Moon Tours are led by trained guides and are offered only when conditions are appropriate. Because this is a night paddle, we pay close attention to wind, fog, visibility, tide, current, temperature, and guest comfort.

Forecasts are advisory; actual conditions on the bay guide our decisions.

We paddle respectfully, keep voices low, and move with care for wildlife, shoreline habitat, and the quiet of the bay.

Your safety, and the bay's well-being, come before everything else.
